# Emergency Leak Repair in Singapore

Water coming through right now. Do these four things, then send the request with "dripping right now" ticked.

[Seepwise](/) passes active-leak requests to a specialist as a priority. Until someone arrives, these steps limit the damage and keep everyone safe.

## The first ten minutes

- Electrics. If water is near a light, fan, socket or switch, switch off that circuit at the distribution board. Do not touch wet fittings.
- Sagging ceiling. A bulging ceiling can be holding water. Keep everyone out from under it.
- Contain. Buckets under the drips, towels on the floor, valuables and electronics moved away.
- Record. Photos and a short video with the time. Note whether it started after rain, after the unit above used water, or with the aircon on.

## Who to call, by type of home

Where the water comes from Call
HDB roof (top floor) or common corridor Your Town Council ([HDB](https://www.mynicehome.gov.sg/hdb-how-to/maintain-your-flat/))
HDB flat above Your upstairs neighbour, then an inspection
Condo common pipe or roof The management office
Your own pipe or fitting Close your main water valve, then a specialist
Landed roof or walls A specialist: send the request below

## After the emergency

Most active leaks need two visits: one to stop or contain the water and find where it enters, and one to repair it properly once surfaces are dry. Ask for both in writing. See [roof leak repair](/roof-leak-repair/) and [ceiling leak repair](/ceiling-leak-repair/).

Request urgent help
Tick 'Water is dripping right now' so the request is prioritised.

Request received.
A specialist will contact you on the number you gave. If water is near electrics, switch off that circuit at the distribution board and keep clear until then.

## Questions people ask

What should I do first when water is pouring through the ceiling? +
Switch off any circuit near the water at the distribution board, keep people clear of a sagging ceiling, contain the water with buckets and towels, and photograph it with the time. Who do I call for a leak from the HDB roof or corridor? +
The Town Council handles roof-related leakage and common areas in HDB blocks. Who do I call in a condo? +
The management office first, so the source can be isolated if it is a common pipe, and a joint inspection arranged. Should I shut off the water? +
If the water is clean and coming from a pipe or fitting, closing your unit's main water valve stops it. A leak from upstairs or the roof needs that unit or the Town Council.
